PRE-TREATMENT DURING THE MILKING PROCESS IN SEVEN STEPS

ALWAYS FOLLOW THE SAME, CORRECT ROUTINE

BouMatic cannot emphasise enough the crucial importance of good, thorough pre-treatment and preparation in your milking process. We recommend that you always follow the same, correct routine. Teat preparation and the time for cluster attachment must be long enough. Before milking starts, each teat must be prepared separately for the purpose of:

  • Optimal teat cleaning
  • Teat stimulation
  • Stripping
  • Maximum oxytocin production and release for the best milk let-down.

The entire pre-treatment process can take 60 to 90 seconds, which is as long as the cow needs for optimal oxytocin release.

The seven steps for optimal udder treatment and preparation are shown below:

STEP 1

Wipe teats to remove dirt and any litter attached to the teats

STEP 2

Treat with pre-dip

Use our unique foam dip! BlueMax Premium or BlueMax B-clean

STEP 3

Strip the first streams of milk: This ensures optimal stimulation and allows detection of any abnormalities (flakes) in the milk

IMPORTANT! 10 to 12 seconds of teat contact per cow (Strip the first streams of milk, wash and dry)

STEP 4

Dry with a circular motion – turn over the cloth and squeeze the teat end firmly

STEP 5

Attach the cluster

IMPORTANT! Attach the cluster within 60-90 seconds after steps 3 and 4

STEP 6

Adjust the cluster to the correct position

IMPORTANT! Adjust the cluster to align correctly with the udder as soon as you have attached the last teat cup

STEP 7

Post-dip, dip the entire udder
